Perched on a hilltop overlooking Sagami Bay in Atami, the MOA Museum of Art houses one of Japan's finest private collections, including three National Treasures. The museum underwent a major renovation in 2017, with interiors redesigned by Hiroshi Sugimoto. Visitors ascend via a series of dramatic escalators through a tunnel to reach the galleries and a spectacular ocean panorama.

Access
8-minute bus ride from JR Atami Station (MOA Museum bus stop). The bus departs from bus terminal #4 at Atami Station.
Tips for Visitors
The "Red and White Plum Blossoms" by Korin is only displayed for a few weeks in February. Visit on a clear day for the best ocean views. The Noa Noa cafe offers light meals with bay views. Allow extra time for the escalator approach.
