Nestled in the Shiga mountains, the Miho Museum was designed by I.M. Pei and inspired by the Chinese legend of Shangri-La. Visitors approach through a dramatic tunnel and suspension bridge carved into the mountainside. The museum houses an exceptional collection of ancient art from civilizations along the Silk Road, alongside Japanese art treasures spanning 4,000 years.
