Underground museum on Naoshima by Tadao Ando, featuring Monet, Walter De Maria, and James Turrell.
The Chichu Art Museum, designed by Tadao Ando, is built entirely underground on Naoshima island to preserve the natural landscape. Despite being subterranean, the museum is flooded with natural light through carefully calculated openings. It permanently houses just three artists — Claude Monet, James Turrell, and Walter De Maria — each with dedicated spaces designed to maximize the impact of their work.
