Series of abandoned houses on Naoshima transformed into art installations by renowned artists.
The Art House Project on Naoshima island transforms abandoned traditional houses and structures in the historic Honmura village into permanent art installations. Since 1998, artists including James Turrell, Tatsuo Miyajima, and Hiroshi Sugimoto have reimagined these vernacular buildings, creating intimate encounters between contemporary art and the rhythms of daily village life. Each house offers a unique, immersive artistic experience.
